Wear Gold with the Sarah Grace Foundation
Celebrating Sarah – Over 20 Years
Supporting Children With Cancer
We’re at the crossroads of another September. Nights will be getting cooler, and fall will soon be in the air. It’s that time of year when school bells are once again ringing. Many children will not be returning to the classroom due to their cancer diagnosis and severely compromised immune systems. These children are not strangers to isolation and must avoid any possibility of catching a germ that can potentially lead to a deadly infection. Crowded classrooms and buses are too dangerous for them. A child with cancer would love to be in a classroom, not confined to home and not as a patient in a hospital. Every day 46 children are diagnosed with cancer and, on average, many of these children will not survive their disease. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States.
September is “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month”, recognized worldwide by a gold ribbon, the symbol of childhood cancer. The Sarah Grace Foundation for Children With Cancer is ensuring that everyone knows how they can support the Foundation mission and these children
and is asking everyone to “Wear Gold for Our Children” during the month of September. You can order your own ribbon on the Foundation website at www.thesarahgracefoundation.org/shop-donate/
The worst nightmare for any parent is to hear “your child has cancer”. Marissa and I will never forget those words “we have triple checked the results and the cells we see are consistent with leukemia…” For over 23 years The Sarah Grace Foundation has worked tirelessly to provide a better quality of life for these children and to ease the burden on their families. As an all-volunteer organization and an IRS 501c3 recognized charity contributions received go directly to supporting the children. We are the stewards of your kindness and continually provide toys, games, holiday parties and activities, sports outings, financial aid, funeral assistance as well as sponsorship of our core programs; “The Bead Program”, “The Escape Hatch”, “Gabe’s Chemo Duck” and “Sarah Grace Book Angels”.
It is our mission to make you aware of the plight of these children. Remember that life is short, think about it and hug your children tightly every day; they are a precious gift on loan to us and a promise of the future. Remember Sarah and help support The Sarah Grace Foundation in our efforts to support these children and honor Sarah’s memory.
Wear a gold ribbon to honor our struggling children and our angels. Visit our website for details: www.thesarahgracefoundation.org/shop/donate Every day in the month of September we will be posting facts and information to raise awareness about childhood cancer.
